A few days ago, Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) announced the introduction of a new modular panel potentiometer—the P11H, with an industry-high 8 Ncm torque—200% higher than the next competitor— —Suitable for off-road, aerospace and industrial applications. The Vishay Sfernice P11H can be configured with up to seven modules in a small form factor 12.5 mm package with a shaft diameter of 6.35 mm.
The high-torque devices released today maintain stability under harsh environmental conditions such as temperature changes and high humidity, and maintain their set/shaft position under high vibration and high shock conditions. The torque of the device is smooth with less than 20% variation over the lifetime of 50,000 cycles.
The P11H can be used as a voltage divider or rheostat for lighting, radio volume and air conditioning control panels for tractors and construction equipment, as well as industrial process equipment and electric welders, motor speed and low power control panels. In these applications, the device’s cermet element offers higher stability than carbon elements, while its 1,500 VRMS electrical strength significantly improves reliability and robustness.
P11H has an operating temperature range of -55 °C to +125 °C, standard resistance values of 1 kΩ, 4.7 kΩ, 10 kΩ, 47 kW and 100 kΩ, contact resistance variation of 2% or 3 Ω, temperature coefficient ( TCR) down to ±150 ppm/°C. Potentiometers are RoHS compliant and CECC 41000 or IEC 60393-1 tested, and are available with custom shaft diameters, lead splices, lugs and other value-added options.
Samples and mass production of the P11H are available now, with lead times of 16 weeks.
